When it comes to SUSHI, people are divided into 3 categories:
1. People that LOVE it
2. People that HATE it
3. People in category 2 pretending to be in category 1..
I belong to the 3rd category..
I'm not pretending to love it, I'm just in denial.. I put the maki in my mouth and try not to concentrate on the flavor or the moisture or the rawness! I would chew it really fast, swallow it in seconds and just follow up with whatever drink I ordered. lol
I sometimes try to slow down and absorb the flavor, but - BAD IDEA, I would start to get nauseous +/- throw up!
The thing is, it's a label nowadays: OMG!!! you don't eat sushi? how sad!
Not just sushi, all seafood.. it's like holding an LV bag, or wearing a pair of gucci!
Now I don't have a problem with other seafood entities, I love shrimps, I crave lobster, mussels and oysters.. smoked salmon makes me high! I'm just not friends with raw food, specially raw seafood!
My sushi friend is the California Roll, it's like a little black dress, I wear it to every occasion.. It's the only maki I can swallow without making a scene! It's my token to the I'm-cool-world lol.

I have a nice trick for you: if all kinds of sushi, sashimi or maki failed, then just pretend to have a seafood allergy ;) worked for me with mom, i don't eat tomatoes, too slimy!
Ummm I love sushi but I generally don't like seafood aside from that... I can eat but dislike smoked salmon, fish (Najil, Hamour, etc..) and Lobster.. I absolutely refuse to eat oysters and mussels! I do like Shrimp and calamri though...
So overall, I'm not a big fan of fish, but I love my sushi :)

Anyway I have something with California Rolls (and I dont mean u, I have this theory b4 I read ur blog!)... People, Please... California Rolls are NOT sushi! They are just an American invention made for people who wana seem like they are eating sushi but actually dont like it...
And just for the mislead, sushi is the peice with rice under it, sashimi is just a raw peice of sea food, and maki are the rolls.. and No, C-Rolls are NOT maki...
So as a sushi worshipper I feel offended, so people please, stop calling California Rolls Sushi! Thank u :-)

I like sushi but I liked it before it was cool. The thing you have to keep in mind is the old saying (wear what people like to see, and eat what you like)
Although I don't get any points on the clothes thing :p.
And hell I don't eat mayonnaise and people think I'm weird, look if you don't like it don't eat it, and if people say anything about it tell them it's none of there dam business!
Cool is keeping it real, not keeping up with fads!

I love japanese food. Not talking about Yo! Sushi or ITSU food but the real deal. The nine course japanese meals!! Just amazing and work of art. Best thing if ur a sushi hatter is to have Sakae, thats why its there. It kills the taste in ur mouth. Plus naturalize tastes so u can try a diff japanese dish.
Jewels, i hate tomato. im on a mission to make all my little cousins hate it too.
